ELLEN YEOMANS

I grew up in Southern California in a camping, geologizing and ocean-loving family;  studied art at UCSB's College of Creative Studies, and began a life-long career as a woodworker in the mid-70's.

 

Working en plein air has been a great joy of mine for decades. I paint outdoors, in oils, on gessoed panels. Painting, for me, is expansive and grounding; the work I bring back can offer a reminder of the vast spaces and natural unfoldings that surround and hold us, even when we’re not in an open field.
