MESA ARTISTS STUDIO TOUR
Celebrating Twenty Years!
MYLA KATO
Myla Kato is a California painter with a background in life drawing and graphic design. At age 13-17, she was a dedicated student at Brentwood Art Center, CA. She focused on life drawing and painting, guided by director/teacher Ed Buttwinick. She learned to capture the grace and motion of live models on paper and canvas, exploring various mediums, including Conté crayon, charcoal, as well as oil and acrylic paint.
Myla has had the privilege of learning from some of the most talented art teachers in California and Santa Barbara. Through their guidance, she has been able to nurture her artistic skills and find her unique style. Her artwork is a true reflection of her bold and adventurous spirit. She doesn't confine herself to realism, but instead adds her own impressionistic twist to each piece.
Myla values her weekly "paint outs" with other plein air painters. Returning to her artistic roots, she cherishes her weekly figure-drawing sessions with a devoted group of artists. While not painting on location, Myla loves traveling with her husband, and spending time in her studio with her faithful companion, Xena, the yellow lab.
